Published by The Post Journal 10/28/16- The 2016 Chautauqua Lake Dragon Boat Race and Festival, along with the Greater Chautauqua Federal Credit Union Ducky Race, helped raise thousands of dollars for two local organizations.
According to Kelly Haaksma, CEO of Greater Chautauqua FCU, the Ducky Race, held on Aug. 5-6, raised more than $12,000. After prizes were paid out, Greater Chautauqua donated $3,000 to the festival, $3,850 for the Chautauqua Lake Association and $3,850 for the Laker’s Disabled Hockey team.
“We are so thankful to all of those that helped organize the event and to our members and community who supported both the festival and the ducky race,” Haaksma said. “When our community comes together, we can really make a difference, and we knew this event was going to be one to remember.”
Earlier this month, Haaksma presented checks to members of the Chautauqua Lake Association and Laker’s Disabled Hockey team at the Northwest Arena.
