Each Team must appoint one member to serve as the Team Captain, all participants must sign a waiver and acknowledgment they have received and read the rules.
Team Captains, you are the liaison between your team and the Chautauqua Lake Dragon Boat Race.
Below you will find Team Resources you need to get started:
- Dragon Boat Registration Form – COMMUNITY
- Dragon Boat Registration Form – CLUBS
- Rules and Regulations
- Waiver and Release Form
A dragon boat seats the designated number of paddlers with a steers person standing in the stern to guide the boat, and a drummer in the bow to motivate the team to keep the paddlers in synch. The Dragon Boat Race will provide all the necessary equipment needed to participate including the boat, paddles and life jackets.
Crews do not require prior experience, a steers person is provided along with training before the scheduled race day. Participants simply need the desire to enjoy a friendly, team building athletic competition!
The CHQ Dragon Boat Race will host two team divisions:
- Community Division for local, more casual competitors. This team division will have up to 10 paddlers with a minimum of 3 female paddlers on all boats.
- Club Division for organized club team competitors. This team division will have up to 20 paddlers with a minimum of 10 female paddlers on all boats.
*Each team must also carry one designated drummer. New this year a special award will be given to the best dressed and most interactive team drummer!
