The dragons are back on Chautauqua Lake. The second annual Dragon Boat Race is scheduled for August 12, 2017 at Lucille Ball Memorial Park in Celoron, NY!
The Dragon Boat Race will provide all the necessary equipment needed to participate including the boat, paddles and lifejackets. Crews do not require prior experience, a steersperson is provided along with training before the scheduled race day. Participants simply need the desire to enjoy a friendly, team building athletic competition!
The event is a full day of racing; each team races three times advancing into afternoon finals. For more information on the rules and structure of the day for teams competing please visit our TEAM Page.

In addition to all the fun on the water the park comes alive as race participants gather with their friends, family along and community spectators taking in the event. Food vendors will be available throughout the day and the Girl Scouts of Western New York will be with us again this year hosting a kids craft.

Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser hosted by Meals on Wheels
New this year! Meals on Wheels of the Jamestown Area will be offering a pancake breakfast the morning of the CHQ Dragon Boat Race event. Breakfast will be served from 7:30- 10:30 a.m., the cost will be $7 for adults, $5 for children under 12 and $3 for a beverage or coffee and a pastry item.
The pancake breakfast is open to the public. Proceeds benefit the Meals on Wheels program and will directly help pay for home delivery services of essential food for homebound seniors in our community.
Rubber Ducky Race sponsored by Greater Chautauqua Federal Credit Union
Last year the Ducky Race raised over $12,000 to benefit the Dragon Boat Race Event, Chautauqua Lake Association and Lakers Disabled Sled Hockey Team.
$5 Ducky Racer Tickets may be purchased at any of the Greater Chautauqua Federal Credit Union’s four locations for a chance to win $500 Cash for the 1st place prize, plus cash payouts for at least 10 more winning places.
The Lucille Ball Memorial Park is a seven-acre public park at the southwestern end of Chautauqua Lake. The scenic park has public boat launch and dock, playground, basketball court with picnic tables and a ball shell.
